How to make custom Gridfinity bins

  1. Measure your drawer. Divide its inside width and depth by 42 mm to see how many grid squares fit.
  2. Print the baseplate. Choose Baseplate, set the size, and print it flat. Several small plates can sit side by side.
  3. Design the bins. Set each bin's size in grid squares and its height in 7 mm units. Add dividers for small parts.
  4. Choose the extras. Stacking lip to stack bins, 6 × 2 mm magnet holes for a firm hold, and a label shelf at the back.
  5. Print without supports. Print bins upright at 0.2 mm layers with 2–3 walls. Every overhang is 45° or less.

Questions

What is Gridfinity?

An open, free modular storage system by Zack Freedman: bins on a 42 mm grid that drop into baseplates and stack, so you can rearrange drawers any time.

Are these bins compatible with other Gridfinity models?

Yes. They follow the standard 42 mm grid, 7 mm height units and the standard foot profile, so they fit Gridfinity baseplates from other makers.

What magnets do Gridfinity bins use?

6 mm × 2 mm round magnets, pressed into the holes under each grid square.

How tall is a Gridfinity bin?

Height is counted in 7 mm units; a 6-unit bin is 42 mm plus the 4.4 mm stacking lip.
